Michael Collins enters Dublin Castle for the formal handover of the Irish Free State, January 16th, 1922.

Lord Lieutenant, Viceroy Fitzalan administered the handover. He is reported to have said, "You are seven minutes late, Mr Collins," to which he received the reply, "We've been waiting over 700 years, you can have the extra seven minutes".
