A rare picture indeed featuring the old Grattan Street fire station in Cork, c.1910. The fire engine looks like the old Leyland tender. Unfortunately, many great and historical buildings were put to torch by the Black & Tans in 1920, among them City Hall and the Carnegie Library. The brave men of Cork fire brigade fought the fires day and night. For fire fighters are a rare breed to be sure. As this haunting picture reminds us...
