A fine view up 'The Grand Canal' in late Victorian times. If only bridges could talk, this one could tell about changing times in Dublin since it was built in 1791 to traverse the Grand Canal. The canal you see before you was a massive engineering project at the time linking Dublin to the River Shannon via The Bog of Allen. Patrick Kavanagh and Brendan Behan crafted many of their immortal words in this place. The artist Francis Bacon was a notable resident of the area also.
