However, it was after the Famine that saw approx 280,000 people enter Liverpool. About 100,000 moved on. So, with that strong Irish background it was no wonder that there would be an attempt by the Irish Diaspora to get together to play the national sports. Sefton Park in Liverpool has always been a great home for a Gaelic games and is based in Greenbank. Gaelic games are gaining popularity worldwide and sure why not, hurling is the fastest field sport in the world!
