Description

The Abbey Theatre was founded by William Butler Yeats and Lady Augusta Gregory in 1903 and opened its doors in 1904. It was the great dream of William Butler Yeats that Ireland should have a place where Irish culture could be expressed by our playwrights and artists. It was the heyday of Irish playwrights and audiences were privileged to watch plays by John Millington Synge, W.B. Yeats, George Bernard Shaw to name a few. When the Abbey burned down in 1951 it was a huge blow for our National Theatre.

Dimensions: 16” X 10” approx.
