Today we remember Dusty Springfield who's anniversary was over the weekend. Born Mary Catherine Bernadette O'Brien to an Irish family in London in 1939, she was given the nickname 'Dusty' due to playing football with boys in the street and was described as a tomboy. She burst onto the scene in the sixties and went on to have six top 20 singles on the US and sixteen in the UK chart from 1963 to 1989. At one stage becoming the best selling female singer in the world. She is a member of both the US Rock and Roll & UK Music Halls of Fame. She died in 1999 from breast cancer. Her remains were scattered by her brother Tom at the Cliffs of Moher in County Clare. www.youtube.com/watch
