Padráig Pearse (also known as Patrick Pearse) was an Irish teacher, barrister, poet, writer, nationalist and political activist who was one of the leaders of the Easter Rising in 1916. The British executed Pearse by firing squad on the morning of May 3rd, 1916 in Dublin. He became seen by many as the embodiment of the Irish rebellion.
