Bang Bang

Bang Bang
Nice poem about Bang Bang in the window of Noel's Deli on Meath Street. Bang Bang (real name Thomas Dudley) died in 1981 and would be remembered by older Dubliners. A fan of cowboy films,, he used to travel the buses and trams of the city staging mock shootouts with passing people (hence the nickname). He carried a large church key in his pocket which he used as a 'gun'. Dubliners enjoyed his good natured antics and would participate in his games, "returning fire" and shouting "bang bang" back at him. He lived most of his life in The Coombe and is fondly remembered in Dublin 8.
