Inis Meáin, meaning 'Middle Island' is the middle of the three main Aran Islands which are strewn across the mouth of Galway Bay off the west coast of Ireland. It has a population of about 160, making it the smallest of the Aran Islands in terms of population. The island is predominantly Irish speaking and is an important stronghold of traditional Irish culture.
