Today in Irish History: 1922 Michael Collins is buried in Glasnevin Cemetery, Dublin. His body lay in state for three days in Dublin City Hall where tens of thousands of mourners filed past his coffin to pay their respects. His funeral mass took place at Dublin's Pro Cathedral. Some 500,000 people lined the streets on the day of his funeral, almost one fifth of the country's population at the time.
