The Cork Volunteers Pipe Band, 1918.
A fine pipe band without a doubt. And a prize winning band at that. Can't you just hear them as they strike up "The Minstrel Boy”? Warrior bards each and every one proudly displaying their solid cloth Celtic kilts. The kilt was a powerful symbol of Gaelic nationalism at this time in Ireland. Cork has always had a great fondness for all things musical and they were very proud of their Volunteer Pipe Band.
