Description
The Dublin Whiskey Distillery Company also known as D.W.D Whiskey was one of the six great Irish whiskey distilleries of Dublin.
George Roe and Company bought the small distillery on Thomas Street in Dublin in 1757. At the time it was powered by the largest smock windmill in Europe and thankfully, St Patrick's Tower still stands proudly to this day. Although many Dubliner's have never noticed, Saint Patrick himself watches over us from Thomas Street on top of the Tower.
By 1926 Geo. Roe & Co. Distillers had ceased producing whiskey. By the mid 1940's Geo. Roe & Co. were dissolved and in 1949 Arthur Guinness Son & Co. took over the site which is located across the street from the St.James's Gate Brewery on Thomas St.
