Description
An interesting newspaper article dated 20th April 1912.
The Titanic was built in Belfast & and its last port of call was Cobh, Co. Cork. The photo is of J.G. Phillips, the heroic 25-year old Marconi wireless operator who diligently sent out the SOS to any ships in the area for rescue. The article contains letters to and from the heads of State at the time, President Taft, King George, Kaiser Wilhelm sending words of condolence and thanks. There's an appeal for funds to help survivors and victims' families. The report details the many iceberg incidences experienced by many ships in the area. A fascinating piece.
