Description
Tipperary Hurling team, New York City Hall, 20th May, 1926.
The hurlers of Tipperary were at the height of their glory at this time and were reigning All-Ireland Hurling Champions on this historical trip. The GAA commissioned a 6-week tour of America to boost interest in Gaelic games in the States. A close relationship developed between Thomas Delaney, Secretary of the New York GAA and the GAA Central Council as a result of the encounter. The visit to New York was a great success and as a result, New York set about organising its own team.
