Portrait of Arthur Guinness at Tailors Hall tavern, a new pub with two beer gardens that opened beside Christchurch. Wolfe Tone, Daniel O'Connell and many other historical characters have passed through here. The building was used as a meeting place of the United Irishmen and featured in many historical Irish events dating back to 1706.
It's a basement pub with centuries old stone walls. Feels like an old banqueting hall or a hunters lodge with wooden benches that line wooden tables, stags antlers, old paintings, low slung ceilings beamed with old timber and a large open fireplace.
The entrance to the first beer garden is from High Street at Christchurch and is lined with tall black lanterns. You'll find the second, bigger beer garden with a gate onto Back Lane adjacent to the old Mother Redcaps market. Nice spot for the good weather we're having at the moment.
