The parlour room in Mulligans known as 'the Joyce room'
The parlour room in Mulligans known as 'the Joyce room'. The room was used by James Joyce as a setting for the short story 'Counterparts', in Joyce's novel, 'Dubliners' (1914). It is also the room where Joyce used to drink. Mulligans is a pub that has held on to its aura, especially in this back Parlour room where Joyce often sat. The room is also referred to as 'the Jockeys room' by keen horse racing fans, who used to use it as a place for deciding bets, and as 'the Tabernacle' because of its stained glass doors.
